Many people don’t realize what they are paying for when they get their taxes prepared. Even more surprising is what people think they are getting.

Tax preparers have to do a better job of explaining to clients what they DON’T do for their fees. Clients think (assume) that they should get some advice and consulting from their tax professional. If you make it clear that the fees ONLY include preparation of returns and not advice or anything else, you open the door to charge more and offer those services.

When you consider that you can provide more value for fewer clients while working less, not offering the additional services such as reviewing the financials and cleaning up the books and more is doing a dis-service to both yourself and your clients.

You will save the client time and money they otherwise lose or spend in missed deductions and everything else that comes from filing with inaccurate information.

And think about this. How much better a job do you think you are going to do when you are excited as hell because you’re getting paid so well to do the work?!
