Gretchen’s favorite kind of Cookie is Oatmeal Raisin Chocolate Chip.

Her company is called pLink leadership.

She had lots of pivots, that may have been more like leaps!

She started out as a graphic facilitator - she was in her early 20’s, was a single mom and was doing some consulting, writing proposals, had a background in marketing.

Graphic facilitation where you’re illustrating conversations in real time. Gretchen doesn’t think she was a great illustrator, but she was a very good listener.

She listened so well that she got to travel around the world and work in many industries.

Her job was to just listen to people with her back to the room.

This is how she got her 10,000 hours of training!

From there she naturally evolved into being the “primary” facilitator - making sure groups had meaningful conversations and from there she leaped into leadership coaching.

The reason strategies don’t get executed is not for lack of a plan. It has to do wit how people behave (eg when they don’t like the plan, when they’re afraid of their environment).

She was fascinated by human beings, behavior and what motivates them. Rather than trying to “fix” them, begin to understand what can we do “on purpose” to motivate human beings to move towards what they want instead of moving away from what we don’t want!

Sound familiar? Listen to Misty’s episode where she references Alison telling her to make sure you are always running towards something instead of away from something.

Gretchen’s Masters in Applied Positive Psychology catapulted her into bringing both worlds together.
